The Prince’s Trust join Douglas Drive….

290720131012aDouglas Drive were pleased to welcome a team from The Prince’s Trust who came to join our Monday Group today.
We asked Lisa, the team leader, to give us a few words about their project.

“The young people are currently on the Prince’s Trust Team Programme which is aimed at getting 16 – 25 years olds back into employment, education and training.  The programme allows the young people to overcome personal barriers and allows them to become confident and learn the skills required to go into employment.

During the 12 week programme the young people complete different tasks and challenges,  part of this includes a team challenge where by the young people spend time with a group of people they may not normally have contact with.

The challenge allows the young people to interact with a different group of people, putting their new skills into practice.  It also gives them a chance to come up with activities to support the people they have chosen to work with.”

Douglas Drive would like to thank the team for all their hard work today… It was great to meet you all!…

A Big Thank you …

Back in April this year we were approached by Sylvia from the Coptic Orthodox Church, Stevenage about a project they were running to help a charity in the community and were asked if there was anyway they could help us.24062013973

Sylvia, Angela and their team produced a great new leaflet advertising Douglas Drive which we distributed at Stevenage Day. We also joined them in Stevenage Town Centre on the 15th June where we supported the team in publicising Douglas Drive.

We were visited by Stephen McPartland, MP for Stevenage and his wife Emma and were privileged to have the opportunity to share about Douglas Drive with them.

There is also a video which is being finalised advertising the centre, using interview clips taken from staff, volunteers and service users… watch this space!!!

We would like to thank Sylvia, Angela and their team for supporting us in this way and helping to move us forward in making Douglas Drive known in Stevenage.

Stevenage Day… Another Sell Out!

09062013951Well, another Stevenage Day and another sell out of our popular Douglas Drive cuddly toy stall…

The atmosphere was buzzing as we were running around matching names with cuddly toys and handing them over to their new owners…

We sold out of our wrapped and named toys by the middle of the afternoon leaving us with a couple of bags of small soft toys which were being sold for 20p each…

And the total taken on the day…

Thank you so much to every one for your help and support, making this another fantastic fundraising event for Douglas Drive.
