Douglas Drive has been a hive of activity today getting ready for our Autumn Bazaar tomorrow, 11am – 2pm.

We have stalls galore including … Tombola,
Nearly New, Craft, Bric A Brac, Cuddly Toys and our very popular cake stall (minus a few that were taste tested this morning – Mmmmm!).  We will also be selling tickets for our Autumn raffle which will be drawn during the afternoon.

Refreshments will also be available.

Why not pop along and join us… maybe pick up an early Christmas bargain or two!

Today saw the first meeting of the
‘Friends of Douglas Drive’ group…

We made a great start on bits ready for the craft stall at the Douglas Drive Autumn Bazaar in November but, it wasn’t all work, work, work!…

There was lots of chatting, a bit of reminiscing, tea, coffee and some very nice cupcakes!…

…. looking forward to next week!

We are introducing a ‘Friends of Douglas Drive’ group to support the centre and help make vital funds.

To do this we will be starting a Friday craft session 10am – 2pm where friends can meet up and chat whilst making various crafts that can be sold to benefit the centre and, for people to have a go at crafts they may not have tried before.

The first group will be held on Friday 4^th October 2013.

It will cost £2.00 per session which covers teas and coffees. If people would like to support our ‘lunch in a bag’ they can be provided at £3.50 (all profits go to the centre) or, you could bring lunch with you.

This new group is open to everyone from the local community and further a field.

We are very enthusiastic about this new project and meeting new friends, and hope people will support our new project…..  Look forward to seeing you!

Douglas Drive were kindly invited to attend a Charity Open Day held by MBDA on their site in Stevenage.

The centre was very grateful to receive a ‘Christmas Cheer Donation’ from the company last year to go towards our Christmas events, so it was good for us to be able to share with employees the sorts of things their donations go towards.

The event was attended by many other local charities and was a great opportunity to promote Douglas Drive, the work we do and advertise our future fundraising events.

It was a great day and we look forward to following up the connections we made through this event, with both employees and the other charities, to see  how we can work together in the future.
